SAS 70

Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) 70 is an internationally recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

A SAS 70 audit, also known as a service auditor's examination, signifies that an independent accounting firm has conducted an in-depth examination of a service organization's internal control objectives and activities.

SAS 70 audits are becoming an industry wide standard for Registered Investment Advisers striving for best practices. As more attention is being given to the compliance culture of a firm, these internal control audits are increasingly being requested by prospective institutional investors as well as many of an institutional adviser's existing clients.
